2010 was the year Night Slugs truly arrived and headlining we have head honcho BOK BOK for a very special back to back with JAM CITY, whose grime-influenced ‘Magic Drops EP’ capped off a wonderful year for the label.
In 2011 they show no signs of slowing down – with EPs promised from BOK BOK and a full album from JAM CITY. This rare joint set should capture something of the unique Night Slugs vision.
BODDIKA is one half of Instra:mental, and he’ll be getting busy on analogue drum machines and synths updating and combining the very best parts of classic electro and techno. Think Underground Resistance and Drexciya reimagined for 2011.
The start of the year sees EPs in the works for Swamp 81 (Addison Groove, Loefah and Ramadanman) and his own Nonplus label as well as Instra:mental's debut full length.
The very first Pipedown contributor – DOWEE - completes the line-up. He runs the uncompromising bedtimebunnage.com and is a damn fine selector and producer - we're tipping him for exciting things.
Finally, residents Sduk and Cntrst warm things up and down nicely.
