I went to this event a fair amount back in the day,my O/H even went a few times before she gave up for children.
The Good
They had spent a fair amount on production,so there were a lot of multi coloured lazers, strobes and LED screens.
The crowd was mainly oldies, this means that they are a bit like young D&B fans, they get there early, are friendly and really up for having a good time. When I got there at about 11.30 the dance floor was already packed,in full swing and the DJ was playing a lot of anthems from yesteryear (don't know who the DJ was).I thought I was in for a good time and then:
The Bad (for me)
Darren Pearce came on,I know he is a Peach resident and about 18 years ago he was everywhere: Sunny Side Up,Trinity,Freedom so I heard a lot of his sets. They are fairly full on Tech Breaks sets that I don't think have changed, you can almost predict the play order.SSU used to put him on at the end,I think this was in hope of clearing the venue and probably the best place for his sets. The only consolation is that many of the oldies did agree with me and the dance floor thinned out a bit.Graham Gold came on after this and I heard a bit of his set,the dancefloor was packed for this and in full swing again, but I had to leave early as I had something to do on Sunday.
Even if Peach does carry on I think it maybe my last if I have to suffer another Darren Pearce set.
