As expected there was a fair amount of oldies but also a fair amount of youngsters this event was pretty much sold out.It was a bit of a mix between a concert and a rave event and there was abit of bopping around. There were times where it was fairly slow at some points and the crowd did seem to thin out during these periods and talk amongst themselves but there were a few full on moments where it did get slightly more animated.Started and finished right on the dot I heard Richie did have a good production setup but I didn't think this was up to expectation there were alot of pictures of his mixing dest and DJ console,I should have guessed this would happen as it was clled Close. The experience wasn't bad bad probably not one I would wish to repeat unless he ups his game or it was in more of a rave environment.

'ups his game' - dude, Richie is pretty much at the top of his game, the thing is his game isn't really to everyone's taste. He pretty much wrote the book on 'making whole DJ sets out of using 4-beat loops' - his style is totally based on stripping a track down to a kick drum and very little else, then making his own builds and drops using FX. His music is either a tour de force of minimal simplicity or a complete snoozefest, usually depending on the quality of the 'rugs in circulation.
No two sets of his are the same, but they are certainly very similar to each other; the only time you will ever be disappointed if you go see Hawtin play is if you are expecting him to play anything radically different sounding or with actual melodies as well as just kick drums, big reverb on percussion and simple basslines.
