ManMadeMan are legends. Just as Paul Oakenfold is a legend in the world of trance, ManMadeMan are legends in the world of psytrance, releasing albums such as Cell Division on Transient, Children Of The Light and Free To Listen. They've also released singles too; Scarabeus on BMSS, Soundproof also on BMSS, Ooze on TIP and Revolution Radio on Pharmacy. The last one receiving a remix by Gnomes Of Kush.
Now though, after releasing Emotional Software in 2021, on Disco Gecko, they re-release Theophany, an album they originally released in 2013. Has it really been ten years? Yes, it has. Believe it or not.
At just under 50 minutes, Theophany isn't a long album. Indeed, there are no really long tracks but there is one 12 minute one, Inside And Outside, which is the penultimate track. Away from the day-glo chaos of psytrance, the ManMadeMan machine adopts a benign swagger; an ambient and contemplative poise like the album that followed in 2021, also on Disco Gecko.
Its nice to hear Theophany once more after a decade. Pure mastery from a legendary duo.
