MOON HARBOUR presents Five Years of Cargo Edition - Label Showcase
In 2006, Leipzig based DJ and producer Matthias Tanzmann set up Cargo Edition to serve as an extension of the stylistic spectrum of its parent label Moon Harbour Recordings.
Five years on has seen Cargo Edition develop into an independent platform with its own unique voice and family of illustrious artists, each adding to the label's character; from the multilayered and melodic tracks of Sven Tasnadi, Markus Schatz and Juno6, to the detailed aesthetics of Michael Melchner, from the reduced dry sounds of Vera to the functional house of Ekkohaus. On top of A&R-ing Cargo Edition, Matthias Tanzmann also contributes his own original and remix work for the label.
On the terrace featuring two of the imprints leading representatives, very special guests Martinez and Ekkohaus. Martinez continues to amaze with his productions and djing demonstrating why he is one of house and techno music's most in demand artists. His productions on MoonHarbour, Cadenza, Area remote, Le Pena and Oslo illustrate his infectious groove, a sound that has rocked the globes finest establishments. Martinez is joined by the equally brilliant Ekkohaus, the greek star who has risen to the limelight from his London roots to his current Berlin dwelling.
The basement falls into the wonderful hands of our next special guest, Lovebirds who'll be serenading you with his deep house music. The Buzzin'Fly, Freerange and Winding Road star resides in Hamburg and sounds "like a blast from the past with house steroids packing serious production muscle. Listening to Lovebirds is like taking trip back to the 70s and 80s - but riding in a gleaming futuristic spaceship." Fellow sonic cosmonauts Prins Thomas, Ashley Beedle and Jimpster go wild for him as they do for our next headliner... Tony Lionni has, over the last few years, been releasing track after glorious track of Detroit-tinged techno and deep house on mighty labels such as Versatile, Wave, Mule Musique, Freerange and of course Osgut Ton. Regular gigs at Panorama Bar have helped put him right up there in the higher echelons of today's best underground producers, expect the finest house music to emanate from him and Lovebirds as well as supporting London acts and Muak regulars, Kelly Sylvia and Soy Mustafa...
Finally, the loft goes back to the future with Sophie Lloydd and friends featuring her two special guests Bicep and Serge Santiago. Bicep are a duo that hail from Belfast, brought together through a common obsession with all things analog. Their blog, Feel My Bicep, has grown to be the first port of call for those searching for cutting-edge and hard-to-find disco (nu and old) / chicago-house / detroit techno / italo / edits and the like. Growing with an amalgamation of jazz, rock and funk helped Bicep form an obscure approach and understanding of which their sound can be described as 80s inspired analog house... Serge Santiago can be located on a similar planet as well as under his Retro Glade moniker (with Tom Neville). Embracing the italo disco vibe his colourful releases have become indispensable dj tools, expect to hear many of them and much more on Saturday 9th...
