You missed it because i never posted not implied that.
You even responded to the posts (and there were several of them as you were too blindsighted to believe the 1st post) where I comment that VSTs can be used in soundforge to master your tracks before going live.

However, as usual, you'd prefer to act a knobber than loose an argument (despite clearly being wrong from the start)

The sad fact is, I wasn't even critasizing ableton. In fact, if anything, I was commending your abilities given I was stating that it's the user that makes the most (or least) out of abletons abilities.
It's just a pity you don't make the most out of your brain when you're not not knee deep in ableton spunk on your downgraded macbook. Razz

So how do you use a master channel limiter in Soundforge, when it's based on summing channels?

In terms of other stuff, you're saying you can do it, but you'd have to go through every track and alter it? Not great.

You'd limit the tracks in the DJ mixer manually.
generally though, it's less of an issue with 2 decks and when you get experienced enough to use more turntables you generally get better at not flooding the sound.
generally speaking obviously - there's some gash DJs out there that think more noise is better.

Well you're happy to go through each track warping each track individually before the gig Razz

Seriously though, if you have the presets saved then it shouldn't take long to do each track (particularly given the filters would save faster than real time as you're not playing the output through a live system while you master). Plus you can tailor the filters per track a little more personally.
It maynot be "ideal" for some people but it's not exactly impractical either.

Even if he uses it exactly like he uses CDJs, it'll still sound better.

You think that a professionally mastered track will sound better coming from you on a £150 DAW with a few plugins than a professional audio mixer that costs over £1000?

Live users choose it over traditional turntables because of the creative possibilities, not because it sounds better. As I said before the platform makes little difference if you are a crap DJ.

I'd actually love to hear you play a half hour techno set on Ableton Live, unplanned of course and then watch Ben Sims do 30 mins on 3 technics and 2 CDJ's and take it to a vote. If you think any clubber would vote for you because your using a shit hot E.q VST man', then your highly deluded.

What does comparing me to one of the best techno DJs in the world have to do with the technical side of whether one piece of technology sounds better than another?

And yes, I do think it sounds better coming out of a £300 DAW with £400 worth of VSTs, using a £880 laptop and a £250 soundcard. Wink You do realise that Ableton goes via the mixer too, right? Just I choose to EQ using VSTs and midi controller as the filters are more transparent.

If someone like Phil Lankester is using it then it goes beyond DJing and into the realms of live performance. Any other Abelton mix, with one or two exceptions, I've heard compared to him sounds like someone on CDJs.
