July Trance Chart
(artist/title/mix/label)
(1.) Ground Control: ‘Then & Now’ (Sly One vs Jurrane remix) – Emalodic
We’re incredibly happy with the way our latest remix has turned out: pure, pumping uplifting melodic trance with plenty of energy to keep the dancefloor moving. Due for release on Emalodic in July, you can catch a listen of this in many of the sets Sly & myself are playing at the moment.
(2.) Sly One vs Jurrane: ‘Time Bomb’ (original/Tom Colontonio remixes) – Discover Dark
Also slated for a July release, the promos of this one are due out very soon. Our original mix is also confirmed as featuring on Matt Hardwick & John Askew’s upcoming Live As Vol 3 compilation so it looks as if there’s a nice buzz building about this one. Really looking forward to its full release!
(3.) Neal Scarborough: ‘Stung On The River’ (Sean Tyas remix) – Discover
Sean Tyas turns in a trademark high-quality remix of the latest solo effort by rising star Neal Scarborough. Plenty of touches here from both and confirms both Sean & Neal’s status as producers of the highest order.
(4.) Orchid Star: ‘Passion’ (Sly One vs Jurrane w/ Becky Dell remix) – artist CDR
We’re still getting great reactions to our remix of Orchid Star’s amazing chillout track, produced with help from the gorgeous Becky Dell. Watch this space for a label release but in the meantime you can check out a sample on the Production page at www.jurrane.com.
(5.) Acute: ‘Breezeblock’ (original mix) – artist CDR
Regular readers of my charts will know I’ve been raving about the work of Martin Jarvis, aka Acute, for some time now. Here he turns an amazing tough proggy tech monster that’ll fit into a very wide variety of trance sets. Superb stuff from a very under-rated producer.
(6.) Filo & Peri: ‘Something Special’ (Jay Lumen’s Soundfusion remix) – Primal
Very appropriately named, it takes something very special to eclipse pretty much any original mix Filo & Peri make so hats off to Hungarian producer Jay Lumen for doing precisely that. This is exactly the sort of prog I like to feature in my early-night sets: nice pumping electronic dance music with a great groove.
(7.) Amadeus vs Aly & Fila: ‘A Dream Of Peace’ (original mix) – Discover
It seems barely a month goes by in 2007 without at least one new release from Aly & Fila and true to form, the great tracks keep coming from these guys. Slightly fluffier and – dare I say it – more melodic than some Discover tracks, this is well worth checking out.
(8.) Volition pres. Evolver: ‘Evolver 2007’ (Selu Vibra remix) – Somatic Sense
Look no further if you like your trance powerful, uplifting and euphoric as this, the standout remix from Somatic Sense’s latest release, hits all the right buttons. Not too much quality trance like this around at the moment, but play this and be transported to instant 3am bliss. Lovely.
(9.) Abbott & Chambers: ‘Never After’ (Aly & Fila remix) – Alter Ego
Aly & Fila yet again and the quality shows no sign of dropping. Superb spiky synths, a great pumping bassline and a nice nice uplifting melody make this a winner in my book. I could listen to this sort of stuff all day (and frequently do!).
(10.) Paul van Dyk feat. Jessica Sutta: ‘White Lies’ (Berlin mix) – Positiva
PVD’s latest production effort doesn’t quite hit the heights of some of his previous works but it’s still damn good nonetheless. There’s a big nod to a commercial market: the track itself is almost a note-for-note rip-off of the Pet Shop Boys’ “Nothing Has Been Proved” and the vocalist could well be Kylie Minogue in disguise. Good stuff though.
