Once again you demonstrate your complete lack of understanding.
Maybe if you understood how the technology works you'd be able to offer a valid opinion.

Did you read about Carphone Warehouse and Dixonx/Currys merger last week? One's a phone company, the other specialises in appliances - the internet of things is here.
Your example above is a little ahead of its time imo. The initial stuff we'll see are appliances such as toothbrushes that analyse your brushing technique and send data to your mobile phone, which will graph it and suggest improvements, etc.
Other stuff often mentioned is being able to talk to your fridge. Your fridge will be linked to the web so you can contact it on your way home and ask what's inside. You might get a text with a list of ingredients and potentially suggestions for a shopping list to complete possible recipes.
Google are basically acquiring absolutely everything as they know what's coming. They're just buying everything including fire alarm manufacturers. Google are consolidating all their offices from Central St Giles, Victoria, etc to King's Cross - and even that isn't random as they'll be as near to Central St Martin's School of Art - therefore acquiring the creativity and talent in the vicinity...
