This Friday 1st October Kent collective, Mongo Bongo test their wits against Liverpool’s Chibuku Shake Shake with a hugely anticipated DJ versus battle at The Social Bar, Little Portland Street, W1.
The boys continue where they left off @ Turnmills last Friday - where total dancefloor destruction ensued!!
Mongo Bongo have established an envious reputation on the dancefloor and a passion for their “FilthyFunkyTribalHouse” soundtrack which has made them both Mixmag and DJ Magazine’s No.1 Night in the South-East. The base of their success is of course the resident DJs and Mongo Bongo has 2 of the best in Anil Chawla and Marcel Kane.
Anil Chawla has in particular shone through the most, with a weekly residency at Turnmills throughout the summer under his belt, alongside regular gigs around the country, a headline set in Toronto, Canada and the honour of DJing at the huge Get Loaded in the Park festival on Clapham Common in August. Mixmag have also just crowned Anil as their latest “Future Hero” and the likes of John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, Greg Vickers and Hernan Cattaneo are all playing his tunes, the newest one of which has just been signed up by Nic Fanciulli and set for release on his new label later on this year.
Meanwhile Chibuku resident Wandy is also fast becoming one of house music’s rising stars and if his recent set at Creamfields is anything to go by, the electricity should be razor hot as two of clubland’s funniest sounding nights come head 2 head for the first time!!
