So, Robohelp is a well-known example but at 700 odd quid it's a little rich for my blood. Have any of you guys used any other applications that allow you to build an HTML help file like what you'd see if you click on Help>'Help Contents' in Firefox?

Free or less than 100 squids would be perfect.

Is this same as Windows Help file i.e. chm ?

(Which I think is a Compiled HTML help file)

For what it's worth, if you are in MS Visual Studio and you format your comments correctly, you get a CHM built for free. If I remember rightly.
