Chart Return for Jurrane

May Trance Chart - (artist/title/mix/label)

(1.) Alex Morph & Woody van Eyden: ‘Turn It On’ (Sean Tyas remix) – Vandit

The sort of vocal trance I absolutely love: anthemic and distinctive without sounding cheesy. An early Tune Of The Year contender for me, with that same sort of feel that made the Tyas mix of ‘Lighthouse’ my favourite track of 2007.

(2.) Dan Stone pres. Arub Flow: ‘Watchful Eye’ (Sly One vs Jurrane remix) – Conspiracy
The dancefloor reactions to our latest remix have been great and we’re really looking forward to the full release. In the meantime, we’re putting the finishing touches to ‘Second Summer’, our new original track, and there’s more remixes on their way.

(3.) Simon Patterson: ‘Smack’ (original mix) – Reset
The follow-up to ‘Bulldozer’ is a little too close to its predecessor for comfort but that doesn’t stop it being a great track. I’m loving Simon Patterson’s sound at the moment as all his recent releases have been absolute stormers.

(4.) Ticon: ‘Models On Cocaine’ (original mix) – Digital Structures
Psy-trancers Ticon fuse psy with electro and come up with this fantastic track. Well worth checking out if you’re looking for something a bit different and it fits into an early-night club trance set perfectly. Props for getting Stephen Hawking to do vocals on this one.

(5.) Foundry: ‘Foundation’ (Dima Krasnik remix) – Tranceflo
Proper big-room uplifting trance the way it should be. I’ve found myself getting very picky about this sort of music but this is the first track for ages that really gets the job done properly. Absolutely beautifully put together with a huge melody to make you smile. Essential.

(6.) Paul Miller: ‘Call Me Miller’ (original mix) – Discover
More big-room stuff, this time from Paul Miller who, for some reason, has decided to include his surname in both track titles from his recent EP (the B-side’s ‘Fruit Vegetables & Miller’ – I don’t get it). This has the distinction of having one of the biggest builds I’ve heard in a tune for quite some time.

(7.) Sequentia pres. Sunshade: ‘Vertigo’ (Ian Betts remix) – Conspiracy
Ian Betts does what he does best by adding tons of impact to this Sequentia alias and ramps up the energy levels. Really looking forward to Ian’s A&R input on the new Friendz label which launches sometime soon.

(8.) David Newsum vs Lemon & Einar K: ‘From Dubai With Anticipation’ (Anthony Attwood bootleg) – CDR
I’ve charted both these great tracks separately over the last couple of months and got handed this fantastic bootleg last week at Planet Angel. All the best bootlegs manage to combine the signature elements of their constituent tracks and that’s exactly what this one does. Very nice indeed.

(9.) Gate 42: ‘Pink’ (original mix) – Discover Dark
I’m really liking Gate 42’s take on tech-trance as it’s pretty distinctive in a genre which can be a little bland. A real industrial feel here, coupled with some neat production touches and a bassline which sounds like its been dragged up from the bottom of the earth.

(10.) Signum: ‘Push Through’ (Manuel Le Saux remix) – Armada
My favourite Signum track gets a very worthy rework from rising star Manuel Le Saux, who’s making waves across the trance community with some excellent productions and DJ performances. Taking a far tougher route than the original, this is well worth looking at for those late night sets.

Good chart. For me, track 5 is the pick of the bunch. Absolutely massive and everything euphoric trance should be.

Track 1 is great though for sure. If you've not heard it yet, wait for Alex MORPH - Walk The Edge (Woody Van Eyeden Remix) - absolutely HUGGGEEEEE and easily the best trance tune of the year imo.

Great chart this month, loads of stuff I like in there - we've already talked about the Foundry tune and it's great to see someone else agrees (above)!

I think the bootleg is really good as well, and the Ticon one - in fact I liked all of their stuff that got released recently.

No.1 might be tune of the year contender for you but for me it's track 2 (seriously)! It really has everything a great trance track should have. Smile
