A name synonymous with commercial and underground music alike, Ali Shirazinia AKA Dubfire, is one of the electronic music scene’s most imitable faces, whose skills and abilities stretch far further than the art of deejaying. The 27th of September will be a special moment in E1’s calendar, as the Capital’s leading warehouse venue welcomes him for a seldom-seen extended session.
As one half of Grammy Award-winning duo Deep Dish, Dubfire is responsible for bringing dance music remixes to a broader commercial audience, a feat that culminated in the pair receiving the ‘Best Remixed Recording’ Grammy Award in 2002.
Fast forward to 2007, and the Iranian-American’s solo career had already gained incredible momentum, seeing him launch the now-renowned Sci + Tec label that same year. Within its fifteen-year period, the imprint has welcomed some of electronic music’s most talked about artists, with Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli, and Sébastien Léger all finding a home on the label.
Alongside the running of Sci + Tec, 2014 marked a pivotal milestone in Dubfire’s already storied history, with the launch of his most ambitious project to date: Hybrid. Debuting at that year’s ADE festival, the project sees Dubfire reinvent the concert experience by seamlessly weaving together elements of 2D and 3D animation with live audio to explore the intersection of science and technology.
Alongside Dubfire, two of Italy’s most respected proponents will be performing on the 27th of September, as Markantonio and Roberto Capuano take control of The Black Studio. Both mouthpieces for the iconic Neapolitan techno sound, whose releases have been welcomed by the likes of Unrilis, Analytic Trail and Adam Beyer’s iconic Drumcode imprint.
Three leading techno pioneers, all debuting on London's foremost sound system.
