As much as we would love to spend on brand new items, why the fuck would I spend a £800 - £1k on a pram?? That is just ridiculous, especially if you earn under £100k a year!! IMO anyway
Our friend has given us this for FREE, so a saving of £500-£800 and its pretty much brand new.

The baby aint going to remember and to be honest, we are opening up a savings account for our baby girl and everythign we are able to save on, is going into her savings acocunt. I think that is a much better way to spend the money as you never know what is going to happen later on in life. I might die early and then Penny is fucked as I earn most of the dough so just being realistic as possible.
Cot, I deal in furniture so getitng that for next to nothing and will be badass. Havent decided yet but probably somethign like this which I will pay £150, not £800

Baby clothes - yes, we are buying a lot new and have already received shit loads form friends ( before Penny has even had the baby shower) but her brother has had a baby girl and they have shit loads of clothes for us as she will be ayear older than ours.
Point is, in our family, we would rather spend the money elsewhere but appreciate some poeple like to go all out on their first. We arent and I dont see anything wrong with that.

Our friends were AWESOME with giving us stuff/hand me downs.
We were given so many clothes and linen, 2 prams, 2 car seats, a cot, loads of toys, books, baby carriers, high chair, nursing chair for her room and loads of other things.
Excluding the renovations to her room (we converted our study into a bedroom for her with a built in bed and cupboards/drawers) we have probably only spent about £300 on baby stuff and we are pretty much covered on everything until she is at least 12 months old.
I just learnt how to give myself a signature - 27/08/09 - bear (member for just over 2 years)
I just learnt that F5 refreshes a page - 03/03/10 - bear (alive for over 30 years)
I just learnt there is an ignore button - 11/01/11 - bear (still learning)
I just learnt that I can have 1 more than 3 lines in my sig and there is no word limit - 20/06/12 - bear (on a roll)

And i have zero shame in this. We have now accumilated 2 car seats, a sweet pram that can be used in multiple ways, loads of clothes and still loads to come from her brothers baby girl. This is all before the baby shower in which Penny has 23 girl friends going to so expect shit loads more to come.
Luckily we are not egotistical people who need to have the best of everythign to show off to people we dont even know. That is just ridiculous IMO but appreciate a lot of peope are that way inclined. A loving home, never needing to want for anything and even more love are far more important to us than havign a better pram than the other mothers in the playground. Thats just not who we are and we are both happy with that. We will teach our daughter respect and to have a good heart and love others.
Things can chage when they get older, but for now, I am happy to take freebies
