The point about grotty venues (and they're not even that grotty!) is that the people who go there are the kind of people who can have fun wherever they are, without whinging about the colour of drinking straws, and I'd rather go to a party (Yes Mr 2Klub a party) with 10 of them than 10000 bloody Hoxton type wannabes.
If people don't like that then fine, more room for us! I consider myself a raver rather than a clubber. It's about a lifestyle and attitude towards other people, not about who came first in what readers poll for some naff magazine!

Point taken Mr. Gloworm, point taken - and well put, though most of the clubbers I know would say of themselves that they were also people "who can have fun wherever they are" and that for them it's "a lifestyle and attitude towards other people" that's important.
Tell you what, if by any chance you might feel inclined to pop up tp Brum for a w/e I'll take you out to Subway City. I think you'll enjoy it. (Not being sarcastic here; quite genuine). If a line-up with Andy Farley, Pete Wardman, Lisa Pin-up, Sarah G. Si Griffiths, Mark H., and Nick T. would have any appeal then they're on there for a night running from 10pm to 10am on 7th. Feb. which should be attended by many who share your attitude.

littleraver,
i am totally in agreement with you. i have only been 2 the fridge a few times, but have finally found a club that not only pumps the best hardcore vibes with the best quality sound system, but also with one of the best funkiest crowds around... as 4 the lack of ppl, hey, i luv a bit of space... makes my jumpin around all the more fun... plus it makes it a bit more intimate... u can actually get 2 know other ppl!
i was @ turnmills on saturday for their huge prty... 2 b honest, i wasnt impressed... the place was soooo packed, i cudn't even move, never mind dance. re-entry was not allowed, they closed the second bathroom so i cudn't fill up my water bottle, nevermind queing for hours to make a damn pee!!! i also noticed that @ turnmills the men & ladies use different toilets... and @ the fridge, boys n girls can go together... isn't that more fun?
in general, the fridge is everything i want in a club, and i am VERY VERY sad 2 hear that it'll be closin down... ill definately be there on 31-dec for the hammered prty... especially if its my last one @ the fridge... grrrrrr!
so.... where to next?
xxx

And that's fine but what's right for you isn't right for everyone else.
I can completely understand the want for nicer cleaner venues but Hard clubbing isn't supposed to be like other clubs.
I really can't be arsed to explain it because if you don't get it allready then you never will. Perhaps hard house was just a stage that you went through. You now prefer other things and that's great. But for those of us that feel that this is all about a hell of a lot more than just a stage people go through, your comments are harsh and do a lot more unneccesary damage than you think!
It's not just about hard house either. It's a particular crowd, vibe and lifestyle that's followed it's way through early hardcore raves in fields all the way to today, and it's getting more and more diluted along the way.
People keep going on about growing up. It's not that at all! If you want to be "grown up" then go and do it quietly at your local wine bar.
I'd much rather be jumping around like a fuckin' loonatic waving glowsticks if I see fit, shouting "Oi Oi", being sweaty, gurning my tit's off, if I want to, wearing whatever the fuck I want without some Tit standing on the edge of the dancefloor to scared to move incase they get their nice clean clothes dirty moaning about how crap everything is.

I know I'm not the only one aswell. I tell you what tho. When everyone else has "grown up" I'll still be having fun in some shithole somewhere.
Because I can!
