We're running Google Recaptcha on registrations, plus a couple of our own anti-bot techniques so I suspect these are real people whose job is to register and activate accounts and then post. What's more interesting are the accounts which register and sometimes activate, but they return weeks or months later to post. I guess that gets around the "can't post links if you've just registered" approach...
