First 2 months - 90% pay
month 3-9 - Statutory which is roughly £550-£600 ( depending how many week sin the month)
After month 9 - nothing or the £40 a week signing on amount.

Thats how it is now, not sure how long ago it was when you had your kids

Yeah that sounds about right. I ended up going back after about 9 months with both because of it. No way we could afford for me not to.

We are splitting he leave and I'm taking 2 months off but don't need the pay as my commission will more than suffice and so thst Penny gets all the pay. I just want the time off and told Penny if she wants to take another year off then we can make that happen but see how we fare come closer to the time

Childcare is so horrifically expensive...

Sometimes makes me think that opening a nursery at a reduced cost would be a licence to print money

Looked into child care and it's roughly £1k a month. The one close to us also charges £1 a minute that you are late from collecting the child. Train delays by half hour that's an extra £30! It's something we are going to evaluate when it comes closer to the time as sometimes it's better financially if the mom just stays at home. It's fucking extortionate!

Going back to work was so so so hard, but in a way I'm pleased I didn't have a choice because after a few weeks it became my haven, restoring (most of) my sanity!

Do you have to give them a set time to pick them up or is it £1 for every minute after the nursery shuts? Our nursery are fine whenever we want to pick Thomas up, as long as it's specified morning or afternoon. But they do fine for late pick ups after they shut (not a £1 an minute though!).

Mon, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday they go from 7:30am -6:30pm. Thursday 7:30am-7:30pm. If you go over any of those it's £1 a minute. Daylight robbery but what are you meant to do - just have to be strict with leaving work and hope for no delays.

Penny's sister however may be able to do 1 or 2 days a week for a discounted family rate.

Will figure it out when the baby girl arrives Smile
