CITYFOLK is an acoustic folk group that plays music spanning from contemporary folk and pop music to country-folk music. Originally based in Washington, D.C., but now residing in North Carolina, the group consists of Jane Muldoon-Smith (lead vocals, guitar, and mandolin), along with husband Peter Smith (lead and background vocals, lead 6 and 12 string guitars, mandolin, and guitar synthesizer) and occasionally their daughter, Joanna, on upright bass and backup vocals.
Known for their tight vocal harmonies, varied instrumentation and repertoire, CityFolk's repertoire encompasses a broad variety of musical styles that includes such artists as Simon and Garfunkel, Peter, Paul and Mary, Cheryl Wheeler, Norah Jones, Van Morrison, Brandi Carlile, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Kathy Mattea, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Dan Fogelberg, and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. CityFolk has released their debut CD, The Music Always Wins, that contains a collection of their compositions as well as arrangements of some of their favorite music that spans from folk to jazz.
