I first received one of, the curiously named, Hatstandy's tunes on promos a few years back. I was immediately struck by the originality of his tunes compared to the other tunes I was getting. A mix of breaks and chilled Trance with an early 90's Balearic feel to them. Since then I've been lucky enough to hear his music grow and a while back I said that I think his style would suit an album to put on and chill out to.
Well, he delivered just that. I'm not going to go through every tune individually as this is something designed to be listened to from start to finish and not zipping in out of tunes. That said, all the singles are available on Beatport, the link is below.
Employing his own very quirky vocals he also adds Samandsound who I've not heard before. Her vocals are really clean and tidy and every tune she sings on is class. My Heart Is Crying, one of the earlier tunes is a particular standout.
There is a progressive structure to the mix which builds nicely throughout and the tunes change flow from breaks to a regular 4x4 structure throughout. The jump from Lighthouse to Work is Done is a great example of this flow.
So to summarize, this is a very original mix of tunes. Not a mix to stick on and rave around the house, more to sit back on a summers day in the garden with the company of friends and a chilled drink.
