Fido X

» Photon Rotation / Aether

Reviewed by Pete M / Submitted 02-08-12 13:26

Label: Pharmacy Music
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance

We go back Stateside now and the new instalment from Pharmacy Music. This is Fido X with a slice of trance of the psychedelic variety. Two tracks here; the title track and Aether on the flip. Or the digital equivalent of a flip anyway.

Photon Rotation takes place inside the Large Hadron Collider and is a measure of just how much stress a photon can take. Revolving around a super-charged bassline and steady analogue beat, the track slowly gathers momentum and lets fly with a steady monotony. Almost like a beating heart. Almost but not quite.

With Aether, we move to the faster variety with more of a sinister, menacing, tone. This is what Pharmacy are known for; releasing fast banging psychedelic trance. In essence, I think this is the better track of the two but I'm finding myself being drawn to Photon Rotation the more I go back to the EP. At a punt, I'll plump for Photon Rotation but only just.
