Estiva & Tania Zygar

» Death Of Me (Remixed)

Reviewed by Pete M / Submitted 18-07-12 18:28

Label: Enhanced Recordings
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance

With a fresh batch of remixes taking centre stage, "Death Of Me" takes its place for a second salvo into clubland. The original mix was released earlier and this remix package includes versions from Ferry Tayle, Karanda and David Broaders.

The Ferry Tayle remix takes in the usual fairytale magic; firing off a barrage of epic synths and banging beats. Tania's vocals, wrapped up in Estiva's progressive-like structure of the original release, are tighter and more compact in this version. With that in mind, the difference in tempo is a bit strange but for all intents and purposes, is a marvellous achievement, especially for someone of Ferry Tayle's calibre.

British act Karanda fire up the converters for a more robust, progressive, mix. You might know these guys from the Progressive arm of Enhanced and also the rather good Alter Ego label. Here, they fire off a proggier version; with essences of funk injected for good measure. I sound like a wine merchant or something. Yeah. Karanda have certainly done a good job on here; sticking close to the original's structure but making it their own.

David Broaders lowers the tempo and heads in a housier direction. Can trance be house-led? Yes, it can but this definitely isn't "trouse". Progressive? I think so but on the other hand, its a bit more house-like in structure and poise. Its an interesting version but the Ferry Tayle mix is the one for me.
