Mallorca Lee feat. Ross Ferguson

» Together (w/Mark Sherry Remix)

Label: MLXL
Format: Digital
Genre: Tech Trance

Writing an ode to someone is usually (well, mostly) cheesy but when its well-executed, it usually ends well. The Original Mix of this is doing the rounds, having been released a few weeks ago, but now Mark Sherry has been drafted in to provide an Outburst-style remix.

The Original Mix is a sparse tech-driven affair. Written as an ode to Mallorca's wife Maria, and featuring guest vocals from Ross Ferguson, Together is a rock-ish trance beast. The beat is fairly meaty and the whole atmosphere has a genuinely loving feel to it. Die-hards might find it a little self-indulgent which is a shame. But the main synth, as mentioned in the earlier review, is ace.

What has Mark Sherry added? Well, he's added quite a lot. He's given the rhythm section a good beefing up and there's more of a glitchy approach to the vocals; being chopped up and given more of a dub mix kinda vibe. He's also removed the main synth riff of the Original which is a surprise but the riff he's put in more than makes up for it.

Nice stuff from the MLXL front-man and an epic remix from Mr Outburst, Mark Sherry. Well worth the purchase.
