A new survey of Britain’s top 100 tastes has revealed that over two thirds of Brits consider bacon their favourite food, ahead of chicken, chocolate and bread.
“It’s British food at its best, simple, affordable, versatile,” chef Andy Bates told the Metro, “so it’s good to see it’s been crowned the nation’s number one ingredient.”
The tantalizingly tasty pork product was also outed as being remarkably popular in Canada last year when another survey for Maple Leaf Foods (of over 1,000 Canadians) discovered that 43% said they would prefer to have bacon than sex.
“Four out of five respondents (82%) who said they love bacon also said they are good lovers,” Bacon Today also reported, in a pithy analysis of the survey stats.
“(And) nearly one in four of respondents (23%) wondered if ‘my partner loves bacon more than me’.” (BaconToday: http://bit.ly/bQcSIj )
The two tastes were skilfully combined by US company J&D products last year who applied their company philosophy of Everything should taste like bacon’ to invent sex lubricant Baconlube.
“You've always been a lover of bacon. Now you can be a bacon lover,” they promise on the new products website, “with baconlube™, the world's first
bacon-flavored personal lubricant and massage oil.”
