Details of his fatwa emerged a year after fellow Iranian leader Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi issued a similar fatwa on the grounds that Islam teaches that dogs are officially ‘unclean’
“Friendship with dogs is a blind imitation of the West,” the Grand Ayatollah also added, “There are lots of people in the West who love their dogs more than their wives and children.”
In more Middle Eastern culture clash news Iran’s Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi blamed the worldwide popularity of drugs on a Zionist conspiracy this week, claiming absolutely no Israelis use drugs to excess, at all.
