Shibari is the Japanese art of limiting the movement of the human body (shibari bondage) using ropes, which is determined by technical and aesthetic principles. Practice requires compliance with safety precautions, skill from the rigger and trust, the ability to relax from the model. Two types of shibari ropes are used: artificial (synthetic) and specially processed natural. Of the natural ones, the most popular are jute bondage ropes, since they are the most durable, do not burn the skin, easily untie, and also use cotton, linen, hemp. Unlike natural ropes, synthetic ropes are more durable, but can cause burns if handled improperly.
