Ah but the other cool thing I have in there is on the big electro swells where the pitch seems to keep rising but never reach the top because there's another one kinda following behind it... that come in round the main parts of the tune... I built a patch that approximates a Shepherd Tone generator which I think adds an interesting edge. Only PITA is it's like 20 oscillators fat or something so it's a PITA to edit/tweak.
Portamento is also fun, I didn't do it in this track but in a few of my others I clone a synth a few times then set the portamento on each one to a different bend range so by a mix of that and detuning the oscillators I can get some pretty sweet & interesting harmonic/phase effects as the sounds 'bend' into new chord shapes.
