Pietersen has already been dropped.

Strauss is 35, not scoring any runs, and with the exception of a brief blip against the West Indies, has not scored any for fucking ages. His captaincy has been pretty threadbare of late too.

Personally I would shift Trott and Bell up the order, and bring in Bairstow. Just because there is no ready made replacement, it does not mean that he is irreplaceable. Cook has shown that he is more than capable of replacing Strauss as Captain in the Test format.

I totally agree but with the current preference for the team structure we would have to have 2 new batsmen. TBH i am not that au fait with the current state of county cricket so not too certain who wouldbe best.

I don't expect the Pietersen situation to last for long. The ECB have royally fucked him around anyway. If they force him to miss the Ashes he may well retire.

KP has to a large extent caused this issue himself originally by wanting to play in the IPL and not for England when it clashed. He does have a tendency to react without thinking it through and it would also seem he's not getting the best advice from whoever is advising him.

That being said he is the most talented batsmen out there and is scoring runs at the moment, Strauss is somewhat stale in the role and as Hanky said Cook has been primed for the role for a while now and is more than capable.

I love watching KP bat when he's on form and we need him now.

It's funny you so desperately sought a British passport, and yet take this sort of attitude. Frankly, if you were any kind of cricket fan, you would want to see Pietersen playing, as he is one of the best in the world. Kallis, for example, is one of my favourite players. I would never yearn for his exclusion merely because he plays for SA. To do so smacks of idiocy.

I understand his position re the IPL. He wishes to maximise his earning potential, and he probably only has 5 years left. Without the IPL he will be waving goodbye to £5m. Who would want to do that?

I think we can all agree on the fact that England players are playing too much cricket as well, it is more a fact that his timing and methods suck.

I agree but it's not like he's not getting well paid for England.

Quin makes a good point, there's too much unnecessary cricket being played. That whole nonsense of the one dayers against the Aussies . . . no point in that.

We could have had a proper 5 test series against SA and that would have meant more.

Wrong Laughs out loud Not me, mate. Still on Saffa passport.

Incidentally I started this thread supporting him, it was only later that I stopped defending him and started trolling. Wink And FWIW, if you had been part of the I Love Olympics thread on FB, you might have seen just how much support I gave the Brits, going through the highs and lows.

So STFU Big grin

His pay is not huge with England - he gets £250k per year for his central contract. The one day game is pretty much redundant now, and so when he sought to retire from it I fully understood, but the ECB would not accommodate. A five test series against SA made far, far more sense.

Don't get me wrong - I think that his behaviour has been pretty unacceptable, but at the same time I think you need to question the wisdom of his omission at such a crucial time. Either way though, he will lose. I sincerely hope it is the end for Strauss too though. He has been a passenger for far too long, and leaving out Swann was a prime example of a man who is out of ideas.

All that being said, the word from the England camp is seeming to be overwhelmingly behind the decision.

Strauss and Flower show a very united front.

However leaving Swann out of the last side was a MASSIVE cock-up. KP took wickets bowling his part time stuff FFS. You have to question that sort of decision.

KP is a massive cunt. I also hope his international career is over. It also means England will be weaker and more chance of us winning and being number 1 for longer. Regardless of how good he is, he is a fucking cockhead of note.

I have a British passport because my dad is Scottish and yes I have chosen Britain as my home and where I have made my career. Difference is I dont have the talent that he clearly does and if he had a bit more patience, wouldve certainly have played for SA.

Fuck KP!
