There are thousands of websites running this story, clearly not all of them have got it right. I got that from ITV news, just by the way. And here's what it said:
"Immediately after the match, Ferdinand did not think that Terry had used racist words, the court heard.
He said: "It's handbags innit - it's what happens on the pitch", and the two shook hands.
But later, Ferdinand's girlfriend showed him footage posted on YouTube, and he believed Terry had used the racist insult."
yes, but it wasn't reported by him.

Did I say "reported"?

Futher up, yes, or rather that his girfriend did. Ferdinand was hoping the FA would deal with it, with predictable prevarication on their part. It is pretty clear from Terry's own admission that Ferdinand when watching it back he would reach the conclusion that what had been said was said, he would have to be mental to not think that.

The whole thing is dodgy and should never have come off the field. Ferdinand's gf apparently instigated this. Maybe JT rejected her?
Show me the reported

reported, instigated, either way it is wrong.
I think I covered that with the first sentence of my post...

I am getting confused with what the point actually is now.....
Ferdinands missus did show him footage and he then saw that he had been "racially abused". that is not in question. it is merely how ferdinand found out about it.
this is not her instigating it
it was reported to the police by a member of the public (apperntly off duty police officer) who then interviewed ferdinand for his point of view after it had been reported.
if I am missing the point let me know as I am now baffled.

The point is that he didn't think he had been racially abused until someone told him that he had.

Terry denies using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour which demonstrated “hostility towards that person based on his membership or presumed membership of a particular racial group”.
The offence carries a maximum fine of £2,500. The trial, which is due to last five days, continues.
£2500 for footballers and 21 weeks in jail for Jacqueline Woodhouse? They could at least fine them 21 weeks of wages to make it appear more proportionate!
