On my next BR I unlock Mosquitos

Quite excited about flying

If you figure out how to do the reverse maneuver, you'll be king of the skies.

It'll be hard, but doable.

You're looking at more than a few hours before you even start to get competent. It took me a few days to get used to the Lib, and countless hours to master it.

Just remember one thing - you can hover, and when you hover you can afterburn to get a vertical thrust increase. I'll leave you to figure out why that's important. There's strength in numbers, so always know where the front lines are and where your zergs are - get in trouble and retreat to over them and hope a HA has a G2A launcher, a MAX has its Bursters out, Sunderers are gunned or there's a Skyguard around.

And don't waste your gift certs on toys for your Mossie. Tomcats and Coyotes (A2A) are borderline OP, but wait until you can fly properly before buying them. Same deal with Hellfires (A2G). Stick with the Needler and tanks until decide with ESF approach to take.

Or just stick to the ground game. The armour game is also pretty fun for those who can't fly - a Lockdown HE Prowler has some of the highest damage output in the game...

I'd personally suggest sticking to the infantry game until you really know what's going on.

are MAX the sort of heavily armoured terminator things?

I haven't unlocked all that yet

Still BR10

I'm finding it extremely rare to find enemy vehicle terminals that aren't restricted (have been all over Koltyr) but have managed to hack a couple

Now, back on PS1 I remeber being able to jump into someone else's Galaxy as a passenger, and then just jump out over a battle and land safely regardless of altitude

Not so from my Mosquito :-|

Oh, you're still on Koltyr. Explains the lack of hackable terminals.

But it shouldn't matter - you should really stop playing Infiltrator. It's a useless class and just a cert sink for you. Being invisible and OMG FLANKING isn't as useful as you'd think and the semi-auto rifle you get is garbage. You mentioned your aim isn't tip-top at the mo, so you're really hurting yourself by playing a class which requires top-tier aim (or an SMG) to be remotely successful. Even I don't play Infil, and I'm closer to the higher-end of the PC accuracy scale.

Galaxies still work like that. You need Ejection Seat for the ESFs to do the same thing. Don't waste your certs on it.

So I'm rapidly approaching BR 15 and am about to be kicked off Koltyr

I had a brief look at the other continents

Am I right in thinking there's a day/night cycle now?

It was always a bright sunny day on Koltyr

How long do the cycles last?

How does this affect combat?

What new equipment should I be getting for night time funtiemz?

I'm playing a lot as engineer these days

Day/night cycles vary per continent.

Every day is two hours.

Indar ~75mins day, 45mins night.
Esamir ~90mins day, 30 mins "night" (Esamir doesn't get fully dark and the aurora keeps the sky bright)
Amerish ~80mins day, 40mins dark with a long dusk/dawn period.
Hossin ~60mins day, 60mins dusk/night/dawn period.

There's also weather. Indar sometimes gets covered in a dust storm. Esamir suffers from snowstorms.

It can affect combat as visibility is mostly reduced. Infantry becomes harder to see and tracers are more distracting - but easier to track to source. HA overshields beam like lighthouses. Medic bubbles become more obvious. Prox mines stand out due to their lights. Infil cloak shimmer becomes harder to spot.

Use the lack of visibility to your advantage, it becomes easier to flank, you're not as visible against the terrain.

Dark camo is king at night - it's hard to spot an LA in dark camo against a dark sky. VS have an advantage due to their default camo being dark but that's countered by their tracers being the brightest.

If you're struggling to see at night, grab a NV sight. But the viewing range is heavily reduced, you get washout on Esamir and IFF can be tricky. I'd recommend sticking with your regular daytime sight and just... looking harder.

Thermal Optics is a must-have for your favourite vehicle weapon. Unless it's an AA weapon, then you want Night Vision. Don't ask why.
