Yo Yo All,

I have in general been finding people's reactions to my views, thoughts and how I "communicate" on-line fascinating in terms of the many questions regarding my sanity Big grin

In general I find it is simply the suggestion of any reference to "spiritual" which ignites a passionate responses whether it be positive, negative or in-different but the most common on-line is a negative reaction where questions against the posters "mental health".

So what do we really know about mental health issues? Such as Schizophrenia for example - the first thing that astounds me is that the common man still confuses Schizophrenia with multiple personality disorder but even those who have a more "educated" understanding, including the NHS, still view it as a "disease" - an illness.

It has taken me little over 3 months of starting with my basic education and personal experience with a "best friend" suffering from psycho psychosamatic schizophrenia at the age 13 - committing suicide @ 17 (age I was diagnosed with Cronhs) - wikedpedia to coming across this article at approx 9am yesterday morning.

Conscious Schizophrenia

By 10am I sent the neurologist an email - shortly before middnight I received a substantial response from her providing her insights, advice, suggestions of other people both everyday and specialists with their contact details where she had them as well as some questions for me where she was asking my advice.

Some may know but for those who don't - earlier in the year the Government sought the creator of wikepedia to create a public NHS Health Wiki - which will also home all case studies and clinical testing will be available to the public. Referring back to a previous where I was questioned as to my "faith" I am able to source 90% of "specialist knowledge" on any subject using the internet alone and become "my own doctor". Smile

You should talk to my Wife about this. She's forgotten more about Mental Health than most people on these boards will ever know.

Sadly she doesn't post anymore because of dickheads like DMX and Zod.

I think it is fair to say that everyone on the Internet is annoying.

Big grin

I can see why - the agresive responses are unreal. On PsymusicUK I have been getting outstanding outrage - I was even accused of "taking the piss out sexually abused women (like the posters GF) - and being just as bad as the man who sexually abused her Laughs out loud

Wicked stuff on the Wifey Smile I am actually putting a little team of researchers together for mental health(both proffesional and average Joe's; so far I have recruited my cousin who has just past her psychology degree and working to speaciliase in the areas I am covering. Can you PM me other her email or a contact email and I will fire over some info on what I am doing to see what she thinks and from there Smile

Generally I've found that 99% of what's online about medical stuff is horrendous. Never, ever Google anything medical, there's too much noise from hypochondriacs, nutters and the half-informed.

Couldn't disagree more tbh Smile - it is clear as daylight when the information is written by hypochondriacs & nutters etc and so on but I guess it is dependent on your own "knowledge" but in the most part; there is a wealth of more reliable information on-line; it's just a case of 1) finding it 2) being able to reconsie when the information is "solid" or "questionable".

In any event, why would you only be listening to the noises of users/general posters? When a wealth of proffesional and certified knowledge is out there somewhere?

Sounds like the kind of thing that would take lots of training and experience to be able to do well. You know, the sort of thing actual medical professionals have. And as a bonus, they're available to give you quality advice for free! Winner!

My father-in-law is a retired GP, and we've ended up giving him a call on numerous occasions (esp since having kids) and his advice has always been better than what's been available online, as he can ask questions and get us to provide additional information. You'll always get a better diagnosis from two-way communication, as without specifics the advice online has to be generalised, and therefore will err on the side of caution.

I know this because my job is similar (albeit with machines rather than people), sometimes asking the right question(s) are what allows you to zero in on what the problem actually is.
