Judge Jules under the microscope
Written by Agnes Klos (7th July, 2010)

Jules O'Riordan known better under the stage name Judge Jules was born on 26th October 1965 in North London. While being a law student Jules together with Norman Jay established themselves as central figures of Rare Groove days, breaking into abandoned premises to stage warehouse parties. Jules got into the House scene in 1986 and started travelling to New York to buy records and it was here he experienced the incredible atmosphere house music was producing. In 1987 Jules premiered on pirate radio station Kiss FM and in 1990 when the station went legal Jules rapidly became one of their top jocks. DJ Magazine voted Judge Jules 8th in the top 150 DJs in the world, the UK's number one club DJ in 1995 and more recently in a Music magazine survey of the most influential people in house music, Jules came second only to the manager of Paul Oakenfold. Agnes Klos talked to Judge Jules ahead of SW4 Festival this year. [FULL STORY]

DJ Lottie: Fighting For Feminism (& Bringing Up Babies)
Reported by News Editor (29th July, 2010)

“Having a baby changed my life massively, I took myself out of the loop quite dramatically for a while and all I could think about was my gorgeous little boy Stanley. Although I started doing gigs again when he was quite young they were all local and I didn't go out apart from that so a lot of people thought I'd disappeared completely. It takes a while to feel normal again and it’s only the past year I've been back in it like I used to be.”

Landing her first high profile residency at influential London night-spot Turnmills in 1999 and going on to regularly cover for Pete Tong on his hugely powerful Radio 1 show, DJ Lottie started the noughties as one of the few female DJs touring the world on the A List DJ circuit. 11 years on she remains comfortably placed within the same elite strata though she’s the first to admit becoming a mother four years saw her stepping back from the decks for more than a brief break.

“On a practical level, you simply can't carry on
